Draugr

Draugr are undead guardians in Norse sagas, reanimated corpses that fiercely protect their burial mounds and treasures from grave robbers. These horrors swell to enormous size, gain superhuman strength, and can crush intruders or break through doors. Some draugr shape-shift or wield weapons, and they emit a foul stench or glowing eyes. In legends like Grettir's Saga, they are relentless, rising to terrorize the living, symbolizing greed, the violation of the dead, and the enduring power of the grave. Iron scissors or decapitation could stop them, reflecting Norse beliefs in proper burial rites to prevent restless undead.
