Origin Backstory

In Greek mythology, Medusa was once a beautiful priestess of Athena who was cursed by the goddess after being violated by Poseidon in her temple. Athena transformed Medusa's hair into living serpents and made her gaze capable of turning anyone to stone as punishment. She became one of the three Gorgons, isolated on a remote island, where heroes avoided her until Perseus, aided by divine gifts, beheaded her using a reflective shield to avoid her deadly eyes. Her severed head retained its petrifying power, later used by Perseus as a weapon, symbolizing both victimhood and monstrous vengeance in ancient tales.
