Origin Backstory

Born from the union of Loki and the giantess Angrboða, Jörmungandr was one of three monstrous offspring prophesied to bring doom. Odin, fearing the prophecy, cast the serpent into the ocean encircling Midgard. It grew so enormous that it encircled the entire world, biting its own tail, forming the Ouroboros-like boundary between land and sea. Destined to clash with Thor during Ragnarök, the World Serpent's release of its tail would signal the end times, poisoning the skies and seas in a cataclysmic battle where both would perish.

Lore

Jörmungandr, the World Serpent, is one of Loki's monstrous offspring in Norse mythology, cast into the ocean by Odin to encircle Midgard, biting its own tail in an eternal Ouroboros. Its immense size causes tidal waves, and its venom poisons seas and skies. At Ragnarök, it battles Thor in a cataclysmic fight, both perishing. Jörmungandr symbolizes chaos, the boundary between order and destruction, and the cyclical nature of existence. Its release from its tail signals the end times, embodying the inevitable clash between cosmic forces in Norse cosmology.
