Valkyries

Valkyries are fierce warrior maidens in Norse mythology, "choosers of the slain," who ride winged horses across battlefields to select brave warriors fallen in combat for Odin's hall Valhalla. They serve mead to the einherjar and prepare them for Ragnarök. In some tales, they wear swan cloaks to fly and can marry mortals. Valkyries embody fate, glory, and death in battle, serving Odin and determining who enters Valhalla. They symbolize the honor of heroic death and the preparation for cosmic battle, reflecting Norse ideals of courage and destiny.
